Chicago Electricity Prices
Chicago electricity prices are falling for educated consumers thanks to Illinois’ energy choice laws that allows competition in the state’s electricity market. Consumers who are aware of the new competitive market are taking advantage by finding electric rates that are as much as 17% less than current ComEd default price to compare rates. The ComEd price to compare rate is 7.733 cents per KWh, while current competitive rates are 6.40 cents per KWh.
The Illinois Commerce Commission requires all offers for residential service to be an apples-to-apples comparison to the ComEd price to compare. This eliminates the need to worry about hidden charges and fees for residential service that has become commonplace in other industries such as wireless cell, insurance, and cable TV. With electricity it is what you see is what you get. All you have to do is compare competitive offers to your price to compare rate.
Shopping for low electricity prices in Chicago is picking up steam as more and more consumers learn about their choices and alternative energy options.
